To call it home field advantage would be an understatement.
With over 2,000 strong at Mercer Stadium this past Friday (September 19), it was definitely a homecoming for the New Westminster Hyacks who played this game as if it was their last.
For the fans, it was truly a spectacle with the game ball being parachuted in by a member of the B.C. skydiving team. But for the players it was all about kickoff, something they’d been training for all summer. It is a huge part of the New Westminster secondary school football program to buy-in not just during the season but for the entire year, and it showed against the West Vancouver Highlanders.
